Access Point Commands

Usage: This parameter applies to all Distributed APs managed by the switch. If you change

the setting to required, the switch requires Distributed APs to have encryption

keys. The switch also requires their ﬁngerprints to be conﬁrmed in MSS. When

DWL-8220AP security is required, an AP can establish a management session with the

DWS-1008 switch only if its ﬁngerprint has been conﬁrmed by you in MSS.

A change to DWL-8220AP security support does not affect management sessions that are

already established. To apply the new setting to an DWL-8220AP, restart the DWL-8220AP.

Examples: The following command conﬁgures a DWS-1008 to require Distributed

APs to have encryption keys:

DWS-1008# set dap security require

set {ap | dap} upgrade-ﬁrmware

Disables or reenables automatic upgrade of a DWL-8220AP access point’s boot ﬁrmware.

Syntax: set {ap port-list | dap {dap-num | auto}} upgrade-ﬁrmware {enable | disable}

ap port-list List of ports connected to the DWL-8220AP access point(s) on which

to allow automatic ﬁrmware upgrades.

dap dap-num Number of a Distributed AP on which to allow automatic ﬁrmware

upgrades.

Defaults: Automatic ﬁrmware upgrades of DWL-8220AP access points are enabled by

default.

Access: Enabled

Usage: When the feature is enabled on a DWS-1008 port, a DWL-8220AP access

point connected to that port upgrades its boot ﬁrmware to the latest version

stored on the switch while booting.

Examples: The following command disables automatic ﬁrmware upgrades on the

DWL-8220AP access point connected to port 2:

DWS-1008# set ap 2 upgrade-ﬁrmware disable

set radio-proﬁle 11g-only

Conﬁgures each 802.11b/g radio in a radio proﬁle to allow associations with 802.11g

clients only.

Syntax: set radio-proﬁle name 11g-only {enable | disable}

name Radio proﬁle name.
